The Central Coast is set to become one of the best diving destinations in NSW, having secured an ex-Royal Australian naval ship to be sunk as an artificial diving reef at Terrigal. The guided missile frigate HMAS Adelaide has been de-commissioned and will be available for divers to explore off the Terrigal Skillion Headland from approximately September 2010.
This will provide Terrigal with the only military wreck dive in NSW which will attract divers from around Australia and from all over the World. The HMAS Adelaide will be sunk one kilometre offshore, between Terrigal Headland and Avoca Beach, with departures by boat from Terrigal.
This new wreck dive site will provide a world class diving facility for people ranging from beginners to advanced divers. Terrigal Events Management will be co-ordinating diving packages which will include diving, food and discounted accommodation.
